Santander is said to be considering a 25% listing in London of its U.K. banking business. Media reports suggested that the proceeds from the float could be used by the Spanish bank to acquire more than 300 Royal Bank of Scotland branches that the European Union wants sold. Emilio Botin, chairman of Santander, however, has said as recently as last week that there were no immediate plans for such a listing.
